Eaton County Historical Commission

Eaton County Rural School Project

The Eaton County Historical Commission began collecting rural school items such as class photos, grade books, school census lists, memories, school board minutes, history and whatever people brought in and what the project group could gather in various places. This collection of rural school information began with research and scanning obtained from the Eaton County Genealogical Society, Courthouse Square Association, Sunfield Historical Society, Bellevue Historical Society, Eaton Rapids Area Historical Society, Grand Ledge District Library and the Grand Ledge Historical Society. Many people have made this project rich with information because they took the time to bring things in to be scanned, they emailed information in to us, or they shared items on Facebook.

Rural School Exhibit at Courthouse Square Association

The Eaton County Historical Commission invites you to the Rural Schools of Eaton County Exhibit Open House at the Courthouse Square Association Museum on Wednesday, April 15th, 2015 from 4:00pm—7:00pm.

Ordering the Published Book

The Rural School of Eaton County book, with more than 300 pages, includes a DVD with many indexes and images at a price of $25.00 plus $7.50 shipping and handling if mailed. The Historical Commission is now taking pre-orders for the book/dvd set by email to csamuseum@yahoo.com or phoning 517-543-6999 to reserve a book.
