Cemetery Project
2008
We are updating our cemetery readings and initiating photographing
headstones. We are adding cemetery name indexes to our website.

New Database Research Tool At The
Courthouse!
Come visit us in the Genealogy Room at the old Courthouse and use our newly
installed Surname Index System! Members have been volunteering for years
to peruse piles of books to transcribe names and page numbers of each names
occurrence into index lists for each book. These index lists have now been
consolidated into one database, which can be queried by surname, first name or
by soundex to reveal columns of the queried name, the name of the book and the
page number(s) it appears on. See the
Index List for a list of indexes included in
the system as of April 21st, 2008. To date there are 334,000+ records to search and
more being added regularly. It is a goal to include this searchable
database tool on our website in the future. There is no projected date for
this yet.
Charlotte Community Library Obituaries
The Charlotte Community Library has an Obituary page and lists obituaries for
the years 1997, 1998, 1999, 2001, 2002 and 2006. Please visit
